Who's got Los Angeles-based hodgepodge, Carter Ace, out here making music like this?

Carter Ace's latest Who Gotchu Hurtin' pressure cooks pressing questions, an epidemical rhythm and vulnerary melodies to cure you of all ailments better than your mama's chicken soup ever could.

The bulk of WGH's production (handled by Oneil Carter) finds a comfortable seat in the swing of funk/soul and a traditional R&B anchor. Oneil Noah's chords rinse over his stacked, quartet-like harmonies warming up the melody. The airiness of that sound floats directly into John Redwood's mucky moog bass chords. Redwood's bass with Fahem Erfan and Daniel Durant's electric bass is where the rhythm catches its running start, strongly supported by Gio Alford's clacky, fiddle-footed drums. These individual parts of the production stand out in such a way that each sound snags its own space to impress. Who Gotchu Hurtin' has extremely busy, borderline exhausting production that sounds overwhelmingly good and energetic, ultimately lending itself to the content of Oneil Noah's concerned vocals.

Noah's vocals do it right away with the help of an embedding chorus. His inquisitive tone leaves the song on alert early before calming it down by drifting in and out of matured rapping and singing. His consoling vibrato and the accompaniment from Taylor Henderson's additional pinched falsetto not only sounds damn good but comes with a chilly feeling of not hurting in silence anymore and looking at the brighter end of the spectrum for a change. And his understanding lyrics have an entire arch of coming from a bad place and ending at a good one, just in case you need to double down on expressing a cognitive ear. Needless to say, Who Gotchu Hurtin' does everything in its musical powers to get you to feel the way the song sounds -- invigorated.

And after this, I have no doubt you will.
