In the eyes of Derin Falana, whether your path is predestined or you tirelessly pursuit the top despite the odds, you will need to adapt if you want to separate yourself from the ordinary, maximizing your full potential.

A peep hasn't been heard from Brampton's Derin Falana in quite a while. The These Days artist has increasingly become more calculated and scarce with his drops, but when he does the noise he makes with them is nothing to dismiss or discredit. And the Lucidox-produced The Change Up brings something apocalyptic with the lone survivor being Falana.

Lucidox's production gridlocks the roads for anyone else trying to get to where Derin is going. A creeping synth bassline with close-fisted drums and phantasmal harmonies vacate the competition and leave his city for the taking. Falana ditches the more melodic approach for an unforgiving cadence and cutthroat punchlines to rebuke anything lesser than the best. His line: "a lot of you hate on your idols but we just become them" is the change up he is hungry for, to be in the Drake-esque position. And The Change Up is the energy that will get him there.
